Revised hospital visitor guidelines in response to COVID-19

NOTE: Post updated with new information 3.19.20

As part of our preparedness efforts for COVID-19, Community HealthCare System has revised visitor guidelines for hospitals in Onaga and St. Marys.

No visitors will be allowed for hospital patients except in the following extenuating circumstances:

  • The visitor is a guardian for a pediatric patient
  • The patient is on comfort end-of-life care
  • The patient is critical and needs someone there to make important decisions

CHCS associates with friends or family members who are hospitalized must also follow these guidelines.

Staff members are available to work with loved ones to connect via phone and video. Please call the Onaga nurse’s station at 785-889-5007 or the St. Marys nurse’s station at 785-437-4196 to express your interest.

Chief Nursing Officer Mindy Olberding thanks everyone for their cooperation in protecting patients and healthcare workers.

“Our priority is to keep patients and families safe while protecting our staff. We thank everyone for their patience and vigilance as we work to avoid community spread of COVID-19,” Olberding said.

CHCS also suspended visits to CHCS senior care facilities.
