Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest impact.
On February 16, around 10 p.m., a patient was transported by ambulance from Frankfort to our Onaga hospital. After receiving care and being cleared for discharge around midnight, the patient was unable to reach a friend for a ride home.
One of our nurses contacted her friend’s daughter, and her son, Jaron Thomas stepped in without hesitation. After already working a 12-hour shift, Jaron arrived at the emergency room around 1 a.m., helped the nurse get the patient safely into his car, and drove the 30 miles one way to make sure they arrived home safely.
The two had only met briefly once before, yet Jaron gladly volunteered to help a virtual stranger—and even refused gas money, simply saying, “I am glad to do it.”
This act of kindness went far beyond what anyone would expect and is a wonderful reminder of the compassion and generosity that make our community so special.
Please join us in congratulating Jaron, our latest BEE (BE Excellent Everyday) Employee Recognition winner!
