Procedure masks required starting October 26

Community HealthCare System, or CHCS, remains committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, and safe patient care while ensuring the safety of our workforce.  Given the widespread community transmission of COVID-19, CHCS is adjusting mask requirements for all patients and visitors starting Monday, October 26.

Masks have been required in all facilities for several months, but as an additional protective measure, CHCS clinics and hospitals will provide patients and visitors procedure masks, also known as Level 1 masks, when they enter. Everyone will be asked to wear the mask and keep their mouth and nose covered throughout their visit.

Face masks of all kinds, including homemade cloth masks, continue to be an important tool in stopping transmission of COVID-19 in our communities. Cloth masks help prevent the emission of droplets and aerosols, and thus help decrease spread. Medical-grade masks are more fluid-resistant and provide additional protection from larger respiratory droplets from coughs and sneezes. This is particularly important in our healthcare environment as we enter flu season.

Patients who find a cloth mask more comfortable can place the Level 1 mask over their cloth mask if they wish.

Thanks to our patients, visitors, and associates for protecting each other and our communities by wearing masks.
