Growing up, Campbell always knew she wanted to be a primary healthcare provider. “I particularly enjoyed helping my grandmother in her informal walk-in clinic on their farm in the Northwest province of South Africa. Grandma was a retired Community Health Nurse who could never really retire. When patients, friends, and farm-hands could not get to her little clinic, she went to see them wherever they were. For me, this cultured a special love for rural primary care and a commitment to improve the health of people within their living situation, within their community, and using the resources and opportunities within their reach,” she says. She also appreciates the opportunities she has had to practice in different parts of the world. “These experiences continue to inspire me to always regard individuals as part of their unique culture or community and care for them within that context,” Campbell says. Campbell enjoys teaching clients how to care for their mind, body, and soul and helping them celebrate even small victories toward better health. She says there are no “magic pills” to fix health problems effortlessly and encourages patients to do the hard work of maintaining and improving health. When not at work, Campbell enjoys flower gardening, traditional karate, walking her three rescued Bassett hounds, and traveling. She loves to visit her family in South Africa and support band, arts, and culture in our schools. She lives in Holton with her husband and two teenage children. -
