Portable Ultrasound Machines Now Fully Operational Across Holton, Centralia and St. Marys Clinics

We are excited to share that all newly purchased portable ultrasound machines are now fully operational at our Holton, St. Marys, and Centralia clinics. These machines were made possible through the generous grant support from the Patterson Family Foundation and mark an important milestone in expanding maternal care services across our rural communities.

For patients, the new ultrasound technology means greater access to timely, high-quality prenatal care close to home. Having ultrasound services available on-site reduces the need for travel to larger facilities, supports earlier detection of potential concerns, and enhances continuity of care throughout pregnancy. This is especially impactful for expectant mothers in rural areas, where access to obstetrical services can be limited.

The new machines are also providing meaningful benefits for our clinical teams. Staff have received additional training to utilize the technology, increasing confidence, efficiency, and clinical capability across all three locations. The portability of the machines allows providers to deliver care more effectively in a variety of clinical settings while supporting best practices in prenatal assessment.

“These ultrasound machines are already making a difference for both our patients and our staff,” said Mindy Olberding, CHCS Chief Nursing Officer. “They strengthen our obstetrical program, enhance our ability to provide safe and timely care, and support our mission to deliver high-quality healthcare in the communities we serve.”

CHCS is grateful to the Patterson Family Foundation for their continued investment in rural healthcare. With all machines now in use, CHCS is better equipped to support expectant families and advance equitable access to maternal healthcare across our service area.
