Community HealthCare System Awarded Patterson Family Foundation Grant

Community HealthCare System (CHCS) recently received a $50,000 grant from the Patterson Family Foundation to help purchase replacement invasive monitoring equipment used in their Surgery, Anesthesia, Obstetrical, and ER/Medical-Surgical departments.

“We are so appreciative of the Patterson Family Foundation for these grant funds,” said Todd Willert, CHCS Chief Executive Officer.  “As our costs continue to rise, it is becoming increasingly challenging for us and other rural hospitals to replace or purchase new equipment.  These grant funds come at an opportune time as we look to replace our invasive monitoring equipment and prepare to add additional orthopedic surgeries to our service line,” he said.

The Patterson Family Foundation, based in Kansas City, Missouri, is a family-led foundation that extends the legacy of Neal and Jeanne Patterson. It was established to improve rural communities through health care, education, economic opportunity and beyond. The foundation is geographically focused on Kansas and western Missouri counties with fewer than 50,000 residents.

CHCS Chief Nursing Officer, Mindy Olberding, echoed Willert’s sentiments stating, “I could not be more excited to accept these funds as they will have a tremendous impact for our Surgery, Anesthesia, and Obstetrics departments.  By supporting our medical staff, the invasive monitoring equipment will allow our clinicians to respond timely and appropriately to slight changes in a patient’s condition and provide high level, quality care. We value offering services close to home to our rural patients, and this grant will allow us to continue to provide and expand those services while enhancing our quality of care."

With more than 450 associates at seven locations serving a large service area, Community HealthCare System (CHCS) is a first-class, nonprofit health care system with a longstanding tradition of providing compassionate, high-quality care to the rural communities of northeast Kansas. As we continue to integrate and expand into the areas we serve, CHCS is making it easier for Kansans to access the care they need.
