Cardiac Rehabilitation

Location(s): Onaga

Recovering from cardiac disease takes strength, determination, and a team of supporters cheering you on every step of the way. You can continue to improve your cardiac health right here at Community HealthCare System with our Cardiac Rehabilitation program. Our program is conducted within the Fitness Center at the Onaga campus.

Cardiac rehab is a medically supervised program for people who have had a heart attack, heart failure, heart valve surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting, and angioplasty with or without stent placement.

Overall goals of the program are to:

Improve participants' health and quality of life;

Reduce frequency of visits to the hospital or emergency room;

Reduce the potential for future heart problems; and

Assist participants in choosing healthier lifestyles.

The program helps participants adopt heart-healthy lifestyle changes through exercise counseling and training, education for heart-healthy living, and counseling to reduce stress. From proper exercise techniques to making healthier nutrition choices, our staff will help participants learn to manage risk factors and make positive changes. Participants are referred to cardiac rehab by their primary care provider or cardiologist. If you have had a recent cardiac procedure or event and have questions about referral, contact our Cardiac Rehab team for assistance. An onsite physician is available for cardiac patients’ immediate needs, and our cardiac rehab nurses are trained in advanced cardiac life support.
