  • Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, or registries of poisons, narcotics, or controlled drugs. 
  • Checking prescriptions to ensure that there are no errors and that they are appropriate and safe for the individual patient.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review or evaluate the quality or effectiveness of drugs or drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications or characteristics. Part of this role includes sitting as the secretary to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Co-Chair to the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
  • Plan implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security and proper disposal. 
  • Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage. 
  • Assess the identity, strength or purity of medications. 
  • Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by healthcare doctors but calculating, weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities. 
  • Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions. 
  • Monitor patient drug therapies. 
  • Ensure medicines are stored appropriately and securely.
  • Answer questions about medicines from all 7 locations within Community HealthCare System.
  • Supports and abides by the mission, values, and policies of CHCS in all activities.
  • On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements.
  • All other duties as required.
